 Mancherial’s tribal girl secures seat in IIT Chennai.

Mancherial: A tribal girl student of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College (TSWRDC) of Mancherial district centre secured admission at the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, to pursue MBA. The results of the entrance examination were declared on Tuesday.

Dr Sarita Subhasini, principal of TSWRDC, said Chanda Komala, who completed B.Sc, was shortlisted for admission into the postgraduate program in MBA at the prestigious institute under ST category. She and her teaching staff congratulated the student and said she had brought recognition to the institution and her parents.

Hailing from remote Lingadharigudem village Tandur mandal, Chanda’s father is a daily wage earner and her mother is a homemaker. She completed intermediate at a junior college in Warangal and schooled at Tangalapalli Zilla Parishad Secondary School in Tandur before graduating from TSWRDC.

Dr RS Praveen Kumar, Secretary of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) congratulated her for securing a seat in the premier engineering institute.
