Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday said Telangana was the only State in the country to release fishlings into all the water bodies including reservoirs and villages tanks without charging anything from fishermen’s societies.

The Minister was speaking after he and Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav released fishlings into Kondapochamma Sagar to mark the release of 14 lakh fishlings into the 15TMCft storage capacity reservoir. Kondapochamma Sagar was built as part of the Kaleshwaram Lift Scheme at Marikook in Gajwel Assembly Constituency. After the releasing of the water into Kondapochamma Sagar during the last week of May for the first time, the State government has decided to impound the project with 7.5TMCft of the water during the first year. The project is having about 6.5TMCft of the water now and the pumping into the reservoir is still on.

Harish Rao said the government will soon release shrimps too into the reservoir with an objective to enhance the livelihood for the fishermen. Saying that all the irrigation tanks and check dams were brimming with the water due to incessant rains during the monsoon, Rao said Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao ensured the completion of Kondapochamma Sagar and Ranganayaka Sagar in record time.

Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister, Talasani Srinivas Yadav has said that the Telangana government is supporting the caste based professions with an aim to boost the rural economies. Saying that they have spent Rs 900 crore to buy boats, vehicles and other tools for fishermen communities during the last year, the Fisheries Minister has said  that they will facilitate marketing and exporting the fish across Telangana to guide the fishermen earn more profits.

Yadav has launched the second phase of national artificial insemination programme at Gouraram village during his visit to Siddipet district.

Speaking on the occasion, the Animal Husbandry Minister has said that they will soon distribute sheep units to all the shepherd families, who paid DD to the State government. Saying that they will replicate the community sheds for cattle, which were built in Siddipet, across Telangana soon, Yadav has said that they will build sheds for cattle for people who were eligible under MGNREGS. Zilla Parishad Chairperson, V Roja Sharma, Forest Development Corporation Chairman, Vanteru Prathap Reddy, Collector Siddipet P Venkatrami Reddy and others were present.
