AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to encourage energy efficiency in all key energy intensive sectors, particularly in industry, buildings, agriculture etc. As part of which the State energy department had taken steps to to implement PRGFEE with an aim to expand and promote financing in energy efficiency projects and eradicating the financing barriers in energy efficiency said secretary for energy Srikant Nagulapalli.

Addressing a rally on the occasion of inaugurating energy conservation week at Vijayawada on Monday, secretary for energy Srikant Nagulapalli said that the State government has decided to encourage energy efficiency in all key energy intensive sectors, particularly in industry, buildings,
agriculture etc. As part of which the State energy department had taken steps to to implement PRGFEE
with an aim to expand and promote financing in energy efficiency projects and eradicating the financing barriers in energy efficiency.
The APSECM had constituted a committee of eight banks (SBI, HDFC bank PNB, YES Bank, IOB, Bank Of India, Central Bank Of India, Union Bank,) and three non-banking financial companies
(NBFC)(NABARD,PFC, IIFL) for facilitating financing for energy efficiency projects in the state
under PRGFEE.
The BEE has institutionalized the PRGFEE that provides Banks and NBFCs with a partial coverage of risk involved in extending loans to energy efficiency projects and guarantees 50 per cent of loan amount or Rs 10 crore per project with an objective of scaling-up energy efficiency investments in
Andhra Pradesh “This is one of the significant developments towards institutionalizing energy efficiency in the State and penetrating it into key sectors,” he said.
On other hand, the APSECM would invite tenders for selecting an agency for supply IoT enabled
power monitoring devices to MSMEs that would help to promote energy efficiency in the industries.

The device gives real-time information on electricity voltage fluctuations that would help MSME’s owner to take immediate steps to save energy and ensure safety of machines.
He further said that the State government was giving high priority for providing 24×7 reliable, quality, cost effective power and achieving energy security which is essential to achieve industrial and economic development in the State. As part of this, the government was promoting energy efficiency which is the least cost option to meet future energy demand and achieve objective of sustainable power
sector in the State. “As a developing State, we are expecting highest energy demand in the coming decades. In view of this, we need to fully focus on not only on affordable power but also sustainable
power sector and energy security. The energy efficiency will help to achieve these objectives
simultaneously,” the secretary said.
The State government is spending around Rs.42000 Crore for purchasing power from various sources.
The steps that were taken by power utilities to save money in power purchasing are yielding good
results. There is scope to save approximately Rs.10000 Crores by implementing energy efficiency
measures in various sectors in the state.
He said that people’s participation is the key for promoting energy efficiency in the State. Even a common consumer in the State and local bodies and government institutions would benefit from energy efficiency as it would help to avoid wasteful usage of energy with very less investment and it is also the easiest solution to bridge the gap between demand and supply of energy.  He appreciated the
APSECM for its constant efforts to promote energy efficiency at all levels in the State.
He appealed all government departments to set up energy conservation cells within the stipulated time to encourage efficient use of energy and reduce electricity among the departments. Around 30government departments had set up energy conservation cells so far. Andhra Pradesh is the one and only State in the country that has issued a G.O for setting energy conservation cells in government departments. He said government has issued another important G.O. No.180 on AP Energy
Conservation Building Code to implement energy efficiency in building sector.
He further requested all the district collectors to take initiative to make energy conservation week
successful to fulfill objective of State government of creating massive awareness among general public
about the benefits of energy efficiency.
Collector of Krishna District, A Md Imtiaz said that the district administration has attached high priority for energy efficiency and energy conservation which are yielding good results.
APSECM organized a rally in Vijayawada on Monday as part of massive awareness campaign on energy efficiency and energy conservation. The Guests of Honor CMD APCPDCL, J Padma Janardhana Reddy, Director technical/APCPDCL, Santosh Kumar and SE operation/ APCPDCL,
