Andhra Pradesh as one of the best States in the country in energy efficiency, renewable energy, quality& reliable power supply is now fully focusing on e-mobility which will mitigate the ill effects of climate change and global warming and helps in protecting environment said Secretary, Energy, Srikant Nagulapalli.

In a recent high level meeting covering all state departments, the Chief Minister, Sri Y S JaganMohan Reddy has categorically emphasized the need for taking up stringent steps to reduce green house gas(GHG) emission by taking all energy efficiency measures and other pro environmental protection activities, in general.
Andhra Pradesh which has been a front runner in cutting GHG emissions by adapting several energy efficiency measures across several sectors is all set to take a giant leap in E Mobility.
The Andhra Pradesh government is set to come out with a comprehensive action plan for overall implementation of E-Mobility in the State to make Andhra Pradesh as a hub for E-vehicles.
In tune with the national target set by the government of India, to reduce GHG emission intensity by 33-35% of the GDP by 2030 the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh has already released its EV Policy incentivizing the stakeholders on Supply and Demand side, said Secretary, Energy, Srikant Nagulapalli.

On supply side, the Govt. is allocating 500 to 1,000 acres of land for developing EV Parks with plug and play internal infrastructure, common facilities and necessary external infrastructure. Also, the Govt is providing financial assistance of 50% of fixed capital investment to developers of Auto Clusters and Automotive Suppliers Manufacturing Centers (ASMC) specific to EVs. It is also providing financial incentives for private charging stations and Hydrogen generation & refueling infrastructure, the secretary said.
On Demand side, the state govt. have already created a separate sub-category for Electric Vehicles and the Tariff is fixed at INR 6.70/Unit without any demand charges to promote usage of EVs. EESL has already established 80 charging stations in Andhra Pradesh and supplied 300 e-cars to various government departments and State Govt. has decided to setup 400 charging stations in 73 locations across the state to promote usage of Electric Vehicles, he said.
GoAP is fully committed to foster the growth of Electric Mobility in the state and if need be, energy dept. is open for more policy interventions for making this transition from ICE vehicles to EVs as smooth as possible.
The State has come up with an electric vehicle policyand targeted to phase out all fossil fuel based commercial fleets and logistics vehicles in top 4 cities in the State by 2024 and all cities by2030. The Govt. has identified Electric Mobility space to be robust growth driver in the years to come.
The State Government and the Minister for Energy, Sri Balineni Srinivasa Reddy who is also the environment Minister is very keen for implementation of any energy efficiency activity which helps for environmental protection and reduction of green house gas emissions.
The State Govt has formulated a scheme with funding support from central govt companies NTPC/EESL and other agencies to supply Electric 2 Wheelers on EMI basis to Government Employees on voluntary request made by them without any investment from Govt. of AP.
The Secretary energy who has conducted review on E-mobility with VC& MD, NREDCAP, S Ramana Reddyand other senior officers, highlighted that the employees can avail the Electric-2 wheeler with range of 40 to 100 kms per single charge, which may vary from model to model and Brand to Brand for which EMI for an amount of Rs. 2000/- to Rs.2500/- is to be paid for a period of 24 to 60 Months which includes 3 years AMC with zero investment from Government.

The Energy Secretary, Srikant Nagulapalli said that NREDCAP shall be made authorized to operate the EMI scheme for providing Electric Vehicles to all Government Employees including Cooperative Societies, Public Sector Undertakings and Pensioners, with a special focus on village/ward secretariat staff and other low paid employees who opt for this scheme voluntarily. A G.O shall be issued soon in this regard.
VC & MD NREDCAP, S Ramana Reddy said that EVs fare better than InternalCombustion Engine vehicles in terms of enhanced energy security, reduced reliance on crudeoil, better air quality and lower greenhouse gas emissions. EVs are, therefore, emerging as thepreferred clean technology for future of mobility.

He has also briefed the energy secretary that as part of promoting Electric mobility awareness, the NREDCAP, state nodal agency for E-Vehicles shall conduct workshops/webinars, road shows, technical talks, meetings with OEMs etc in co-ordination with AP State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM), State designated Agency involving various stakeholders like DISCOMs, Transport, industries dept.
The State Govt. aims to be a frontrunner in building a sustainable transportation infrastructure by promoting Electric Mobility Ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh. The Government with a view to make Andhra Pradesh one of the major hubs for electric mobility introduced “Electric Mobility Policy 2018-23”. This Policy aims to support every aspect of Electric Mobility and accelerating adoption of Electric Vehicles that eventually lead to healthier climate, the secretary said.
The Govt. is providing various incentives including power subsidy and other power related benefits for stakeholders who would set up the industries related to electric mobility. 50% subsidy for infrastructure for power supply to industrial units &charging and battery swapping stations, fixed power cost and Electricity duty reimbursement and dedicated power supply line with special discount for night time/non-peak time usage for testing of EV batteries shall be provided, said secretary.
