Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has written an open letter to CM Jagan Reddy, requesting him to provide the poor with ration for two months along with Rs 5,000 during the lockdown in the state in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak.

He also wrote about the need for controlling the price of milk, vegetable during the lockdown.

The Leader of Opposition, Naidu, on Monday expressed concern over the increasing coronavirus cases and casualties in the country.

In an open letter to Reddy on the virus scare, Naidu stressed upon the need for speeding up preventive measures on war-footing in accordance with the Modi government’s latest guidelines of putting suspected cases and foreign returnees compulsorily in quarantine and for taking all steps to prevent community transmission of the disease.

“Nearly 15,000 foreign returnees have entered Andhra Pradesh. All of them should undergo isolation with special focus on creating awareness among their family members, relatives and social contacts,” Naidu wrote, while requesting the CM to take immediate steps for rescuing the daily wage workers and poor families whose livelihoods have come under severe threat because of lack of daily work during lockdowns and curfews.

“The government should provide poor families with ration for two months consisting of rice, edible oil, pulses, sugar, vegetables and other essential commodities. This should be delivered to their doorsteps. In addition, Rs. 5,000 financial assistance should be given to each family in this time of extreme distress,” Naidu said.
