The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief MinisterYS Jagan Mohan Reddy ended a while ago, which discussed several draft bills, including the conduction of the Assembly budget session and YSR Cheyutha scheme. It is also approved various decisions regarding the corruption of Chandrababu Naidu’s regime.
The Cabinet Sub Committee, which looked into irregularities in schemes of the previous government, submitted its report to the Cabinet. The CSC recommended for a CBI probe into the irregularities and the Cabinet gave its nod for the same.
Briefing media after the Cabinet meeting, Information and Public Relations minister Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) said the CSC found glaring irregularities in the tendering process and procurement in the ‘Chandranna Sankranthi,’ ‘Ramzan Thofa’ and ‘Christmas Kanuka’ schemes. “The CSC found irregularities to the tune of Rs 150 crore in the procurement of supplies for the three schemes. There are glaring irregularities in the tendering process too,” Nani said.
Nani said the CSC found irregularities in the tendering and execution of the central government-sponsored Fibernet project too. “The then government handed over the project to Vemuri Harikrishna, his (Chandrababu Naidu) close aide, who was accused of stealing EVMs. It also awarded the tender to Tera Soft, which does not have the eligibility to execute the project. Similarly, though a Central government agency came forward to monitor the execution of the project and quoted the lowest bid, the then government preferred Tera Soft only for monitoring purpose also,” Nani said.
