Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has hoisted the national flag at Pragathi Bhavan here on Saturday. TRS Parliamentary Party leader Dr K Keshav Rao, Government ‘s Chief Advisor Rajiv Sharma, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, DGP Mahender Reddy, and others participated.
Chief Minister also felicitated renowned poet (padya kavi) Tirunagari Ramanujam who was selected for Dasarathi Krishnamacharya award for 2020. The Chief Minister offered him a shawl, Rs 1, 01,116 cash award and a memento. The75-year-old Tirunagari has been active in the literary field for the last 50 years.
The Chief Minister described Tirunagari as a literary legend who has made Telangana proud. “We believe that Tirunagari will continue the legacy of Dasarathi. He said that the works of Tirunagari such as Balaveera Satakam, Akshra Dhara and Tirungareeyam have found a permanent place in reader’s hearts.”Tirunagari has knowledge about Sanskrit and traditions and is aware of the modern trends in literature. I wish and hope that he will remain in Telugu literature as an icon and also nurture it.
In addition to government officials, secretary culture Srinivas Raju, director Mamidi Harikrishna, CM-OSD Desapathi Srinivas, and T Srinivas, son of Tirunagari were also present. The awardee also rendered a poem he has penned on this special occasion.
