Hyderabad: A local court in LB Nagar on Friday sentenced a man to life imprisonment on charges of killing his wife, an air hostess, suspecting her fidelity. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
The case dates back to 2015, when the convict, Sachin Uppal, picked up frequent fights with his wife suspecting her fidelity. She was working for a private airliner and the couple had a son.
Sachin, who ran an electronic store, also demanded additional dowry claiming the Rs 16 lakh worth dowry he got earlier was not sufficient and that he needed money to invest in business. He further harassed her suspecting her fidelity and also for a DNA report of their son to prove that he was the father.
In April, Sachin picked up a fight with his wife over the TV remote while watching a cricket match and beat her up, following which she died.
Based on a complaint from her mother, the Uppal police booked a case against Sachin, his mother and a common friend of his for supporting him. They were arrested.
The court found Sachin guilty and sentenced him, while acquitting his mother and friend.
